Mobile vehicle concept features integrated centralized electronics architecture, advanced spatial flexibility, and generative AI to transform the vehicle interior into an adaptable third space.
Yanfeng, a global leader in automotive interiors, has officially unveiled XiM27, the latest evolution of its eXperience in Motion (XiM) Smart Cabin concept. The new model has been designed as a multi-purpose van and is a fully functional, production-ready drivable concept vehicle.
By integrating advanced hardware and software into a unified interior solution, XiM27 demonstrates Yanfeng’s commitment to user-centric innovation in line with emerging trends, reinforcing its position as an industry leader in Smart Cabin development.
Designed around scenarios
XiM27 is built around the idea that every journey can serve a different purpose, whether for work, social interaction, rest, entertainment, or family time. Within seconds, the cabin can transition from a driver-focused layout into a face-to-face lounge, a relaxation setting, or a practical mobile workspace, allowing occupants to reclaim travel time as meaningful personal time.
This multi-faceted interior is central to the XiM identity. When parked, swivel seating and social layouts support conversation and shared activities, while automated-driving scenarios open the interior to more restorative experiences shaped by lighting, sound, seating posture, and climate. The result is a vehicle interior that feels closer to a second home than a conventional passenger compartment.
Flexible architecture
“The cabin components and innovations are production-ready, designed from day one for safe, comfortable experiences in and above AD Level 3, so time in the car finally feels as valuable as time at home or in the office,” said Patrick Nebout, CTO of Yanfeng Technology.
The XiM27 features a variety of seating innovations, highlighted by AI-adaptive seating. This intelligent system automatically adjusts seat position, firmness, and temperature based on AI-learned user preferences. To accommodate various use cases, the platform supports highly modular layouts, including a first-to-market vis-à-vis seating lounge, a dynamic rocking seat, a second row that transforms into a flat bed, and a flexible third row that seamlessly transitions between cargo and lounge modes.
At the core of the XiM27 is a centralized domain controller. This integrated architecture establishes real-time connectivity across all key interior systems, including infotainment, seating, climate control, door panels, and ambient lighting. The system enables the cabin to dynamically adapt within seconds to various user scenarios, such as working, relaxing, sleeping, or entertaining. To support these diverse interior configurations, the XiM27 utilizes foldable tables, various screens and ultra-long floor rails that run the full length of the cabin, allowing independent seat and floor console movement.
Holistic wellness, intelligent HMI, and immersive lighting
The cabin prioritizes user well-being and intuitive human-machine interface (HMI) interactions. In the front cabin, a 35.4-inch Panoramic Head-Up Display is integrated into the instrument panel, offering clear visual information alongside subtle ambient lighting. To facilitate transitions between manual and autonomous driving, the steering wheel automatically folds into the dashboard.
Passenger wellbeing is a central design theme. Rather than treating comfort as a passive feature, XiM27 frames wellbeing as an active, responsive layer of the user experience to improve comfort over longer travel periods. Passenger comfort is further enhanced by the integration of ventilation technology, which delivers highly adjustable, natural wave-like air distribution. Additionally, a sliding and rotating center console integrates a dual-zone refrigerator, wireless charging, an extendable worktable, and an active oxygen generator with blood oxygen monitoring.
Lighting plays a defining role in the XiM27 experience, functioning not only as decoration but as a core interaction medium. The cabin incorporates ultra-thin wrap-around light strips, 3D dynamic light-transmitting surfaces, and touch-interactive LUXkin materials. Combined with tactile smart materials and integrated displays, the lighting concept reinforces Yanfeng’s mission to make the cabin feel emotionally adaptive as well as technologically advanced.
Award-winning design and industry leadership
XiM27's visionary approach to in-vehicle living has already garnered international acclaim, winning the prestigious Red Dot Design Concept Award 2026. This recognition highlights Yanfeng's capacity to not only envision the future of mobility but to deliver it in a tangible, production-ready form.
With XiM27, Yanfeng demonstrates its capability as a full-system integrator. By seamlessly combining innovations in interiors, seating, passive safety, cockpit electronics and exteriors, the company solidifies its position as a global Smart Cabin leader capable of delivering complete, production-ready solutions for the next generation of mobility.
