Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Description

  • Oversees and document supplier issues (SMRR,SCB) in Power QMS in a timely manner.
  • Oversees incoming inspection, incoming verification list and containment activities for problem suppliers.
  • Oversees supplier non-conforming area and perform transactions in timely manner. Work closely with materials team so they are informed of rejections to prevent impact to production.
  • Lead SQ interface within Customer Groups and plant quality.
  • Initiate andcoordinate 3rd party containment activities.
  • Continually work with suppliers to improve performance by applying problem solving techniques and statistical methods.
  • Assure corrective and preventative action plans are developed, executed, and validated at assigned suppliers.
  • Interact routinely with production personnel, Plant Quality Engineers, Purchasing, Engineering,AQE, Business Unit, Operations and Suppliers to improve quality of supplied components.
  • Understand the PPAP process and know how to review a PPAP.
  • Initiate and lead appropriate MQRprocesses for problem solving.
  • Execute visits to supplier sites to assess, review and verify supplier processed to YFAI requirements.  Escalate to Supplier Development for support if onsite supplier visits are needed.
  • Develop, organize, and maintain systems used to verify product conformance to accepted quality standards.
  • Communicate plant performance with YFAIteam members.
  • Monthly compiling and report out of Top Worst Suppliers and present on Supplier Development call.
  • Other duties as assigned by Lead Quality Engineer and Quality Manager.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Attend Program Reviews and Launch Readiness Reviews.
  • Ensure that the Customer, YFAQ and supplier quality issues are resolved using the appropriate problem-solving methodology.
  • Be proactive in ensuring suppliers achieve agreed customer and YFAI timing milestones.
  • Ensure that Suppliers achieve targeted launch objectives.
  • Ensure effective communication between YFAI and suppliers.
  • Apply different OEM specific requirements related to audit (i.e., VDA 6.3, 2-day production) and PPAP procedures (e.g., PPAP, VDA 2).

Required Education Level

Bachelor's Level Degree

Areaof Study:  Quality Management and Systems or similar.

*Equivalent work experience may also be considered for this position

Required Experience

Minimum 3 Years of Experience with Quality Systems.

Minimum 3-5 Years of Experience within the automotive industry.

Proficient PC-skills, including Word, Excel, MS Project, etc.

Preferred Experience

•    Ability to train others in the SQE requirements.
•    Expert in SQE field.

•    Bilingual in Spanish
