Senior Process Engineer (Seating)

Job Description

Job Summary:

Drives activities of technical team to achieve continuous improvement of our Seating Division. Works with production management production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify process activities to support customer requirements. Implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and affect greater utilization of labor and materials.  

 

Essential functions of the job:

  • Assists providing direction to the site process team
  • Responsible for continuous improvement including but not limited too - cycle times, scrap, quality, and material cost reduction.
  • Provides support on new product launch tooling, providing the manufacturing input for development of new process and improvements to existing processes.
  • Follows established action plans for processes out of range.
  • Maintains documentation closelyfollowing necessary timeliness on specific projects.
  • Enforce safety rules daily and actively intervene to correct recognized unsafe actions and conditions.
  • Ability to complete employee development plans, organize, communicate, and motivate employees.  Must be able to prioritize own work -day schedule.
  • Evaluates the maintenance team and develop a site-specific training/skill top grade program to ensure success; will be required to assist where training needs are required.
  • Manages projects that couldinclude new equipment justification, selection, and installation; development of new manufacturingmethods; machine utilization studies.
  • Responsible to be a root cause problemsolver (must have problem solving training); when solving processing issues the PE will apply a logical methodology and will use data where possible to make the best decisions
  • Work with cross functional team members to identify capital improvement opportunities and develop justification; when applicable the PE will need to write an appropriation’s request, follow the requestthrough the approval process, and help the plant implement. 
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned by manager.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's Level Degree

Plastics, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or similar.

 Required qualifications:

  • 5-7 Minimum Years of Experience with injection molding process.
  • 5-9 Minimum Years of Experience within the automotive industry.
  • Must be able and willing to travel and work at customer sites, including industrial manufacturing plants which might require climbing, lifting, or working in confined spaces.
  • Must be organized and able to communicate well with others.
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty, satisfactorily.
