Senior Process Engineer

Job Description

  • Assists providing direction to the site process team including PE's, Process Technicians,and mold setters.
  • Responsible for injection molding related continuous improvement including but not limited too - cycle times, scrap, quality, and material cost reduction.
  • Develops plans for injection molding process improvement and will have specific areas of accountability inits executions. 
  • Provides support on new product launch tooling, providing the manufacturing input for development of new process and improvements to existing processes and tooling.
  • Follows established action plans for processes out of range. 
  • Work with Tooling Manager for all tool repairs and maintenance. 
  • Maintains documentation closely following necessary timeliness on specific projects. 
  • Enforce safety rules daily and actively intervene to correct recognized unsafe actions and conditions.
  • Ability to complete employee development plans, organize, communicate, and motivate employees. Must be able to prioritizeown work day schedule.
  • Works closely with the site Technical Manager to develop appropriate training material for the plant's operations. 
  • Manages projects that could include:new equipment justification, selection, and installation; development of new manufacturing methods;machine utilization studies; and new tooling qualifications; in conjunction with the tooling process engineer, he/she will be responsible for new tool design and development. 
  • Responsible to be a root cause problem solver (must have problem solving training); when solving processingissues the PE will apply a logical methodology and will use data where possible to make the best decision. 
  • Develops a training program for process technicians and mold changers; leadscycle time improvements, mold change time reductions, and decreased process troubleshooting time. 
  • Have working knowledge of tooling and the requirements of a successful tool/process combination; expected to understand the YFAI tool prove out process.
  • Work with cross functional team members to identify capital improvement opportunities and develop justification; when applicable the PE will need to write an appropriation’s request, follow the request through the approvalprocess, and help the plant implement. 
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned by manager.

 

           Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s level degree, preferably in Plastics, Chemical or MechanicalEngineering.

    Required qualifications:

  • ​​​​5-7​ Minimum Yearsof Experience with injection molding process. 
  • ​​5-9​ Minimum Years of Experience within the automotive industry. 
  • Must be able and willing to travel and work at customer sites, including industrial manufacturing plants which might require climbing, lifting, or workingin confined spaces. 
  • Analytical problem-solving skills. 
  • Exceptionalunderstanding of injection molding processes. 
  • Exceptional understanding and experience performing mold change requirements; experience using the use of SMED methods. 
  • Extensive hands on experience with injection molding equipment, robotics, and auxiliary equipment. 
  • Proven mechanical aptitude for problem solving. 
  • Proven process and tolling engineering excellence in the automotive industry.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Beltpreferred. 
  • RJG Master Molder I and II preferred
