Quality Engineer

Job Description

Supervisory Capacity:    ​No Supervisory Responsibilities​

Essential Functions

  • Update/maintain the Control Plan for the assigned workflows.
  • Primary contact source with customer/supplier representatives, maintain positive communication and relationship, support and attend meetings, reviews and audits.
  • Ensures that the quality system is maintained in accordance with the YF iOS standards.
  • Facilitate problem solving teams and respond to customer discrepancy notices.
  • Verify corrective actions and prepare problem solving customer correspondence related to quality concerns or issues.
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits, and report to management on quality issues, trends and losses.
  • Establish process controls, assist in training of new projects andbuy-off on new/modified equipment and processes.
  • Participate in workgroups (e.g., FMEA, PSMC, etc.). Support the risk and failure analysis (PFMEA) reviews
  • Performs root cause analysis of technical quality problems, with support of a cross functional team.
  • Support quality/dimensional control systems (i.e., X&R charts, gage studies, Six Sigma, dimensional capabilitystudies).
  • Strong working knowledge of APQP tools (e.g., Process Flow, PFMEA, Control Plan, PPAP, MSA, SPC, etc.)

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Level Degree in Quality, Industrial of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience in Quality or Engineering related function.
  • Minimum 3 Years of Experience workingin the field of Quality, Engineering CI or similar (recent college graduate is considered acceptable).
  • Minimum 3 Years of Experience in the automotive industry.
  • Minimum 1 Year of Experience in Supplier Quality
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work in a team environment, establishing partnerships both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess knowledge on the fundamentals of PPAP and APQP processes.
  • Experience working directly with customers and suppliers, particularly automotive related is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of the Quality function such as customer service, metrology, and qualityanalysis techniques (i.e., Design of experiments, Red X, PPAP, Control Plan, 8D Methodology Reporting,  etc.).
