Customs Coordinator (Seating)

Job Description

Job Summary:

Administers the efficient and economical movement of goods across international borders in accordance with company policies and in compliance with relevant customs laws and processes. Provides uniform and consistent application of the International Trade Compliance Program, including international trade controls, regulatory compliance and capability. The position shall partner with the business to accomplish supply chain business objectives and mitigates regulatory risk exposure.

 

Essential functions of the job:

  • Help resolve all Customs documentation questions/issues that may delay shipments to/from all plants in Canada, the USA and Mexico (often while shipments are in routeto the destination). 
  • Train and assist plant personnel with creating Customs invoices and other documentation in TMS Web Ui. 
  • Help resolve systems issues. 
  • Coordinate Customs documentation with transportation information. 
  • Review and respond to inquiries for information from Customs brokers needed to avoid delays of shipments in route to destination or needed to file documentation timely to USA or Canada Customs. 
  • Work with vendor to provide trade information/documents required under contact with OEMs and other customers. This includes part level trade certificates (example: NAFTA and USA - Korea certificates), country of origin percentage used for OEMlabels, manufacture country of origin and other information.
  • Work with plants to provide complete data to vendor for processing to meet customer demands
  • Develop solutions to “out of process” requests from customers 
  • Extract information from MFG Pro, SAP and QAD when feasible to resolve data issues.
  • Identify and suggest resolution to data deficiencies (resulting in manual “work arounds”). 
  • Work with vendor to obtain information needed to create trade certificates neededby Yanfeng to qualify for trade programs that reduce duties and fees. 
  • Review and approve Customs broker invoices (referred for review by Trans International).
  • Resolve export alerts created from TMS.

 

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's Level Degree 
  • Area of Study: International Trade or similar. 
  • *Equivalent work experience may also be considered for certain positions.

 Required qualifications:

  • 2-5 Minimum Years of Experience with customer service.
  • Minimum 2 Years of Experience within the automotive industry
