Yanfeng North America’s 2022 Intern Diversity Scholarship Recipients Show Commitment to Individuality and Inclusion

As a part of our commitment to championing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within Yanfeng and the greater automotive industry, our Diversity and Inclusion Group (DIG) awards two Intern Diversity Scholarships each year. We are excited to announce Harper Zondlak and Aamnah Movania as our 2022 DIG scholarship recipients.

Each year, interested applicants submit their resumes and an essay response to a prompt selected by internal judges from DIG. This year, interns were asked to reflect on how their diverse perspectives benefit the communities around them and how lessons from their culture, family, religion, sports team or club define them as individuals. Judges evaluated interns on their essay responses and academic excellence.

Harper Zondlak joined the Advanced Quality team in Novi, Michigan, for the summer. She developed a pre-production quality plan covering quality control and traceability through the program.

“Receiving this scholarship was more than financial help for me - I feel seen. As a woman with ADHD, I appreciate that this scholarship recognized neurodiversity,” said Zondlak. “Growing up, I did not see neurodivergent representation in STEM, and it means a lot to be a recipient and represent girls who think differently, like me. The funds will go towards my tuition, continuing my education in chemical engineering and sustainable studies.”

Our second Diversity Scholarship recipient, Aamnah Movania, joined the Materials Development team in Louisville, Kentucky, to work closely with material flow into the plant. Her project included auditing and scan-to-receive preparation work.

Receiving this scholarship makes me feel heard, valued, and as though my hard work is paying off,” said Movania. “Sometimes it may not, but when it does, it’s definitely awesome to be recognized.”

We are thrilled to highlight Harper and Aamnah as this year’s Intern Diversity Scholarship winners. These talented interns have shared their distinct perspectives with their teams this summer and will continue to demonstrate the importance of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in the automotive industry well into the future.
