Senior Engineer, Advanced Manufacturing Engineering

Job Description

Main Responsibilities

  • Support engineering during product and tool feasibility reviews.
  • Support program with smart tooling solutions, like “family tool concepts” and/or tool concepts with “changeable inserts”.
  • Create statements of work for injection molding tools.
  • Schedule and participate tool feasibility reviews with toolmakers.
  • Join tool follow up´s and track tools status of proto type and production tools.
  • Release tool designat suppliers and ensure tools are following our standards.
  • Support toolmakerto achieve the tool function/process in time.
  • Start up molds at tool shops.
  • Support purchasing to reduce tool- and production cost.
  • Support program to reach OEM targets.
  • Support program in change management.
  • Hand over tools to production plant.
  • Support plant production till PPAP release.

 

Requirements

  • Working experience with automotive interior parts. Or with visible and technically demanding injection molded plastic products! 

              (e.g. Instrument panels, Door panels, Floor consoles, TV-frames, Vacuum cleaner housings)

  • Deep knowledge in product feasibility analyzes by following rules for plastic parts design.
  • Deep knowledge in steel types for injection molding tools.
  • Deep knowledge with all types of injection concepts and hot runner technology’s.
  • Deep knowledge in various tool and demolding concepts.

               (e.g. Family tools, Multi cavity tools, Reverse tools, tools/parts with metal, fabric, carpet or naturalfiber inlays)

  • Experience with small, middle and big injection molding tools. In a range from 1ton up to 40tons.
  • Deep knowledge in tool manufacturing,chemical graining and coating/hardening of steels are required.
  • Ability to do clamping force calculations, cycle time, tool size and injection concept assumptions.
  • Ability to judge/rate rheological, warpage and cooling analyzes.
  • Ability to judge/rate tool quality in regards to the craftsmanship of the suppliers!
  • Basic knowledge on plastic RAW-materials.
  • Basic knowledge about injection molding parameter settings.

               (e.g. Temperatures, pressures, times and speed! Set up of part filling studies) 

  • Basic knowledge in tooling manufacturing lead-times and tool cost assumptions.
  • Good knowledge with MS office, 3D-viewer and Rheology-viewer software.
  • Good English skills , German skills would be an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Work independent, responsible and engaged.
     

Education

  • Min. 5-10years of experience in launch and production of automotive interior components
    or other high volume industries for visible plastic parts with comparable technologies!

Or working at a tool shop building tools for automotive and/or non-automotive business.

And/or

  • Education/qualification as toolmaker or designer for injection molding tools, experienced for several years.
